OUR STORY

To us, olive oil is culture. It’s our parents and grandparents harvesting olives on the same plot for half a century.  It’s respect for the land, it’s who we are.

PEOPLE & STORY

It all begins four generations ago on a small plot of land in Abruzzo. When it passed to our grandparents, they chose to plant by hand only olive trees. Since then, the grove has remained in the family, shaping our seasons, our meals, and the way we come together.
In Italy, a table shared with friends and family is never complete without olive oil. It’s what brings people together. Many Mediterranean families who own land make their own oil, passing it through large, ever-growing families. Nowhere is this more true than in Abruzzo, a rural region of fertile valleys and hot summers, perfectly suited to olive growing.
When the land risked leaving the family, we - brothers Julien and Yannick - decided to step in. Not to change anything, but to protect it. Popoli was born from that decision: a way to keep this heritage alive and share it beyond our own table.

OUR NAME

Popoli means the people in Italian. It’s not just a name, it’s the heart of everything we do.
For us, olive oil has always been more than an ingredient. It’s what gathers people around a table, connects generations, and creates a feeling of belonging. It’s present in everyday moments and long conversations, in simple meals and shared rituals passed down over time.
For years, this oil has brought our family and friends together. It was never meant to go further than our own table; made to be shared, gifted, and enjoyed among people we know. But when you make olive oil this way, you often end up with more than you can keep to yourself. So we chose to open our table. To share what we’ve always shared with each other.
Popoli is our way of extending that circle, welcoming more people in, and keeping the spirit of togetherness at the centre of everything we make.

ABRUZZO & OLIVE OIL

Abruzzo is a land of contrasts. In just a short distance, it stretches from the Adriatic Sea to rolling hills, rising quickly into the Apennine mountains. It’s a region shaped by nature, where seasons set the rhythm and traditions run deep.
Often described as forte e gentile (strong and gentle), Abruzzo reflects this balance in both its landscape and its people. Strength shaped by the mountains, and gentleness found in the way life is shared around food and family. Our olive oil comes directly from this land.
Different olive varieties grow depending on where they are planted. Closer to the sea, olives like Leccino produce a milder oil with a higher yield. As the land rises toward the mountains, varieties such as Moraiolo grow more slowly, producing less oil but with greater intensity.
Our village sits between the sea and the mountains, where these two worlds meet. By blending olives from both environments, we create an oil that holds softness and strength in balance; a true reflection of its place of origin.
